A sunni couple got married and after some time the husband changed to shiasm. Is the marriage still valid since the girl is still sunni?

Answer

Contemporary Ja'fari Shi'as have beliefs that are inconsistent with the Qur' aan and Ahaadith. Hence, they are not Muslims. Kindly refer to Shi'sim unedited / Unbridgeable Divide at www.ask-imam.com

The Nikah has terminated from the time the 'husband' became a Shi'a.

Ask AskImam

Fatawa SA is an independent, read-only index of fatawa already published by Darul Iftaa Mahmudiyyah (AskImam). It is not a fatwa service. For your own situation, ask the issuing Darul Ifta directly.
