Question

I am a master’s student and am working on my thesis which will look at the experiences of Muslim foster mothers in the United States. I understand that there are strict restrictions on fostering within Islam. However, I am having difficulty finding resources that explain the requirements in a format that I can quote in my literature review. Could you recommend any books or articles that explain what the Quran says about being a foster parent?

Answer

In the Name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.

As-salāmu ‘alaykum wa-rahmatullāhi wa-barakātuh.

In order for us to assist you, it will be more practical for you to ask specific questions on fostering. You may also explain to us the background of foster care based on the norm and understanding in the United States.

And Allah Ta’āla Knows Best

Ask AskImam

Fatawa SA is an independent, read-only index of fatawa already published by Darul Iftaa Mahmudiyyah (AskImam). It is not a fatwa service. For your own situation, ask the issuing Darul Ifta directly.
