From what age should we make our daughters don the Niqab?
Question
I want to know when should we make our daughters wear niqaab?
Answer
In the Name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.
As-salāmu ‘alaykum wa-rahmatullāhi wa-barakātuh.
It is compulsory for parents to raise their children in the spirit of Islam and taqwa, especially in this age of fitnah and immorality.
It is compulsory for young girls[1] to cover their faces just before attaining puberty[2]. The age of puberty differs from a person to person[3]. Some contemporary ulema have advised the age of 12 for girls to wear niqab[4], if they have not attained puberty before that.
