SPECIAL GUIDANCE FOR MUSLIMS OF INDIA ON THE 500 - 1000 RUPEES NOTES
The Indian Government has nullified the Rs 1000 and Rs 500 notes. The Darul Iftaa received many queries from India on whether bearers of such notes can exchange their money for a smaller amount to avoid Government scrutiny and fines etc. Mufti Ebrahim Desai Sahib answered the query۔ The fatwa makes interesting read for the Ulama especially the footnotes with the references.

مسئلہ مذکورہ ایک شرعی مسئلہ ہے اور فقھی مشکل کا ایک علمی حل ہے، بقیہ مشورۃً یہ بھی عرض ہے کہ قانون کے خلاف ورزی میں اپنے آپکو ذلت میں نہ ڈالے جیسا مندرجہ ذیل حدیث میں ہیں

ترجمہ: مسلمان کیلۓ مناسب نہیں کے اپنے آپکو ذلت میں ڈالے۔
