Question

I was praying Salah in the Masjid in congregation and I made a mistake while praying. I am sure Sajdah Sahw became waajib on me but I didn’t know how to perform it with the Imam. Will my Salah be valid?

Answer

In the Name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.

As-salāmu ‘alaykum wa-rahmatullāhi wa-barakātuh.

In principle, if a person is performing Salah with Jama’ah behind the Imam and he commits a mistake which normally necessitates Sajdah Sahw, he should not make Sajdah Sahw.

Sajdah Sahw is only obligatory upon a person leading the prayer (Imam) or upon a person praying individually (Munfarid).

Accordingly, your Salah was valid without Sajdah Sahw.[1]
