Birthday Cake
Question
Is it permissible to eat cake given to you but that was made for someone’s birthday?
Answer
It is not permissible to celebrate birthdays in Islaam, be it on the exact date or any time before or after.
Part of the birthday celebration is to have a birthday cake. To dissuade family members from this custom, a person should not eat the cake. This is the safest position to adopt as it will save the Muslims from emulating the non-Muslims in their festivals and celebrations . However, if the ingredients of the cake are Halaal, the cake will be Halaal.

پیدائش کی سالگرہ منانا غیر شرعی عمل ہے ، نہ رسول صلى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَعَلَى آلِهِ وَسَلَّم نے کبھی اپنے اور اپنے بچوں کی سالگرہ منائی، نہ صحابہ نے ، نہ بعد کے سلف صالحین نے ، یہ مغربی ثقافت کی دین ہے، کیک کٹنا اور موم بتی جلانا اور بجھار دوسری قوموں کے اثارات ہیں، اس لئے اسے رسم و رواج سے بچنا چاہئے۔
