Performing Qadha Salaah Instead Of The Sunnah Salaah
Question
. I have a about 30 years of qaza salaah. Wanted to know is possible that instead of reading the sunnah before and after the fardh salaah, to read qaza salaah. Or do I have to read the sunnah salaah?
Answer
There are two categories of Sunnah Salaah. The first is referred to as Sunnat-e-Muakkada whilst the second category is referred to as Sunnat-e-Ghair Muakkada. The first type (Sunnat-e-Muakkada) are the 2 Sunnats before Fajr, 4 before Zuhr, 2 after Zuhr, 2 after Maghrib and the 2 after Esha. These are 12 Rakaats in total for the day and should not be omitted.
The remaining optional Salaah will either be categorized as Sunnat-e-Ghair Muakkadah or Nafl. These may be omitted and Qadhaa Salaah perfomed in place of them.
