Yahya Alayhis Salaam
Question
Where was prophet Yahya (Alayhis Salaam)? Was he during the time Prophet Isa (Alayhis Salaam)? Because prophet Yahya (Alayhis Salaam) was the son prophet Zakariya (Alayhis Salaam) who was present in the time of Maryam Alaihas salaam. And where did they reside. Please clarify this in detail.
Answer
Hazrat Yahya Alayhis Salaam was from Damascus Syria. He was during the time of Hazrat Isa Alayhis Salaam. The mother of Hazrat Maryam Radiallahu Anha and mother of Hazrat Yahya Alayhis Salaam were sisters. Therefore Yahya Alayhis Salaam and Hazrat Maryam Radiallahu Anha were cousins. Hazrat Maryam Alayhis Salaam is the mother of Isa Alayhis Salaam. However Hazrat Yahya Alayhis Salaam was born when Hazrat Zakariyah Alayhis Salaam was old so Hazrat Yahya Alayhis Salaam and Hazrat Isa Alayhis Salaam were contemporaries.
