Tying A Turban While Standing And Wearing Pants While Seated
Question
What is the basis of tying a turban while standing and wearing a pants while seated?
I have also heard that one should sit whilst combing the hair. Is this authentic?
Answer
This is probably based on people’s personal experience and should therefore not be understood as being based on any Hadeeth. Allamah Muhammad Ibn Ja’far Al Kattani Rahimahullah says there is no chain found for this to prove it as being from Hadeeth.

و ما يذكر على ألسنة كثيرين في التسرول جالسا و التعمم قائما فلم يثبت فيه شيء من المرفوع مع وقوعه في كلام حجة الاسلام الغزالي حيث قال: فعليك بالتسرول قاعدا و التعمم قائما إلى آخر كلامه ويمكن ان يتمسك للتسرول بالنهي عن التنعل قائما مع فعل النبي صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ له بحيث يكون النهي للتنزيه و علل بأن التنعل قاعدا اسهل و امكن بل ربما يكون عن قيام سترا لا نقلا به و تنكشف عورته.
