Performing Tahiyyatul Masjid After The Time Of Fajr Has Set In
Question
Please advise me whether one can read Tahiyyatul Masjid Salaat once Fajr time has set in.
Context to the question: I reach the Masjid and Fajr time has set in. I still need to perform my 2 Rakaats of Fajr Sunnat Salaah. There is sufficient time for the Fardh Salaat to commence.
Answer
One should not perform a separate two Rakaats of Tahiyatul-Masjid once Fajr time has set in, the two Rakaats Sunnat of Fajr will suffice as Tahiyatul-Masjid.

“سن تحية المسجد بركعتين” يصليهما في غير وقت مكروه قبل الجلوس لقوله صلى الله عليه وسلم: “إذا دخل أحدكم المسجد فلا يجلس حتى يركع ركعتين” “وأداء الفرض ينوب عنها” قاله الزيلعي “و ” كذا كل صلاة أداها أي فعلها عند الدخول بلا نية التحية” لأنها لتعظيمه وحرمته وقد حصل ذلك بما صلاه ولا تفوت بالجلوس عندنا وإن كان الأفضل فعلها قبله –
