Certain pious people absolved of Salaah
Question
What is the status of the Imaamat of that person that holds the belief that certain pious people are absolved of the responsibility of Salaah?
Answer
The Imaamat of such an Imaam is not valid as maintaining such a belief is Kufr. However, if the Imaam repents from such a belief and renews his Imaan then his Imaamat will be valid.

وقال في شرح فقه اكبر ان العبد ما دام عاقلا بالغا لا يصل الي مقام يسقط عنه الامر والنهي لقوله تعالٰي واعبد ربّك حتي ياتيك اليقين فقد اجمع المفسّرون علٰي ان المراد به الموت وذهب بعض اهل الاباحة الي ان العبد اذا بلغ غاية المحبّة وصفا قلبه من الغفلة واختار الايمان علٰي الكفر والكفران سقط عنه الامر والنهي ولا يدخله الله النار بارتكاب الكبائر وذهب بعضهم الي انّه يسقط عنه العبادات الظاهرة ويكون عباداته التفكّر وتحسين الاخلاق الباطنة وهذا كفر وزندقة وضلالة وجهالة فقد قال حجة الاسلام ان قتل هذا اولٰي من قتل مائة كافر (محموديه ص235 ج6)
