Question

Is it permissible to sell non-plated gold and silver rings or imitation rings?

Answer

We understand ‘imitation rings’ to be rings of other metals besides gold and silver which are non-plated, such as rings manufactured from iron, copper etc. Selling of such rings (as well as other imitation rings) is Makrooh.

Ask Ibn Masood

Fatawa SA is an independent, read-only index of fatawa already published by Darul Ifta Ibn Masood. It is not a fatwa service. For your own situation, ask the issuing Darul Ifta directly.
