Question

In my 4 Rakaats Sunnah of Zuhr, after reciting Surah Fatiha, I recited Surah Kaafiroon in the first Rakaah, and accidentally recited Surah Ikhlaas in the second. I thought I’ll read Surah Falaq and Surah Naas next, but I forgot, and recited Surah Lahab in the third Rakaah, and Surah Naas in the last. Is my Salaah valid or do I have to repeat it?

Answer

Your Salaah will be valid. However, it is Makrooh to recite against the normal sequence (of the Quraan Sharif) in Salaah, but the Salaah will still be valid. There is no need for Sajdah-e-Sahw, or to repeat the Salaah.

Ask Ibn Masood

Fatawa SA is an independent, read-only index of fatawa already published by Darul Ifta Ibn Masood. It is not a fatwa service. For your own situation, ask the issuing Darul Ifta directly.
