Status of perfoming Nikaah in a Masjid
Question
What is the ruling and proof with regards to a Nikaah being performed in a Masjid?
Answer
The narration is recorded in Tirmidhi Sharif which states, “Announce the Nikah and have it performed in the Masjid.” Hence, it is Mustahab to have the Nikah performed in the Masjid.

باب كراهة الخصومة
بضم المعجمة والمهملة (في المسجد ورفع الصوت فيه) أي: ولو بالذكر. ومحله إن حصل منه تشويش على نائم أو مصل أو نحوه ولم يشتد به ضرره، وإلا فيحرم (ونشد الضالة) أي: السؤال عنها، والنشد مصدر نشد من باب قتل والاسم منه النشدة والنشدان بكسر نونيهما (والبيع والشراء والإِجارة ونحوها من المعاملات) لأن هذه أمور دنيوية، والمساجد إنما هي للدينيات والتعبدات، وليست منها، وخرج بالمعاملات، النكاح، فيستحب جعله في المسجد، لحديث الترمذي: “اعلنوا النكاح واجعلوه في المساجد” (دليل الفالحين ص520 ج8)
