Belly-piercing
Question
What is the ruling on belly-piercing?
Answer
Belly-piercing is tradition of the Kuffaar, hence it will not be permissible for a believer to emulate their ways and habits as understood from the narrations quoted below. Piercing the nose and ears is permitted due to it falling in the category of female adornment, whilst piercing the belly is not established except as a custom of the Kuffar, hence prohibited.

حدَّثنا عثمانُ بنُ أبي شيبةَ، حدَّثنا أبو النضرِ، حدَّثنا عبدُ الرحمن ابنُ ثابتٍ، حدَّثنا حسانُ بنُ عطيَّهَ، عن أبي مُنيب الجُرَشيٍّ عن ابنِ عُمَرَ، قال: قال رسولُ الله – صلَّى الله عليه وسلم -: مَن تَشَبَّه بقومٍ فهو منهم (سنن ابي داود)
من تشبه بقوم أي من شبه نفسه بالكفار مثلا في اللباس وغيره أو بالفساق أو الفجار أو بأهل التصوف والصلحاء الأبرار فهو منهم أي في الإثم والخير. (مرقاة ج٤ص٤٣١)
ولا بأس بثقب أذن البنت والطفل استحسانا ملتقط (رد المحتار ج٦ص٤٢٠)
وَكَذَا يَجُوزُ ثَقْبُ أُذُنِ الْبَنَاتِ الْأَطْفَالِ؛ لِأَنَّ فِيهِ مَنْفَعَةً لِلزِّينَةِ وَكَانَ يُفْعَلُ ذَلِكَ مِنْ وَقْتِهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ إلَى يَوْمِنَا هَذَا مِنْ غَيْرِ نَكِيرٍ (البحر الرائق ج٢٤ص٤٩٩)
