Honey
Question
What type of honey would be Sunnah to consume? Is there mention of raw honey in the Sunnah?
Answer
The Quraan Sharif as well as the Mubarak Hadith makes mention of honey being a cure for illnesses. There is no specification of the type of honey; rather, honey has been mentioned in general, thus one may utilize any honey that is derived from bees naturally.

حدثنا سلمة بن شبيب، ومحمود بن غيلان، وأحمد بن إبراهيم الدورقي، قالوا: حدثنا أبو أسامة، عن هشام بن عروة، عن أبيه، عن عائشة قالت: كان النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم يحب الحلواء والعسل.(سنن الترمذي:1831)
حَدَّثَنَا مَحْمُودُ بْنُ خِدَاشٍ، حَدَّثَنَا سَعِيدُ بْنُ زَكَرِيَّا الْقُرَشِيُّ، حَدَّثَنَا الزُّبَيْرُ بْنُ سَعِيدٍ الْهَاشِمِيُّ، عَنْ عَبْدِ الْحَمِيدِ بْنِ سَالِمٍ عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ، قَالَ: قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ – صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ -: “مَنْ لَعِقَ الْعَسَلَ ثَلَاثَ غَدَوَاتٍ كُلَّ شَهْرٍ، لَمْ يُصِبْهُ عَظِيمٌ مِنْ الْبَلَاءِ”(ابن ماجة :3450)
