Question

Sometime ago, my father consulted a Mufti from London regarding hurdles in his finances. He was told that there has been black magic (Jadu) cast by a relative. He then quoted an extortionate amount of money to remove the Jadu. I want to know if there is a way to find out if black magic is really the cause, or was it just a false claim in order to make money?

Answer

Majority of the Aamils who extort money from their clients are fake. Your father should recite the Manzil daily, Aayatul Kursi after every Salaah, and Surah Ikhlaas, Surah Falaaq and Surah Naas, when retiring to bed. After reciting these three Surahs he should blow onto his hand and pass his hand over his body. Insha’Allah he will be protected from all harm and Jadu. Don’t worry about the Aamil in question. There isn’t a greater protection than what we have mentioned above.

Ask Ibn Masood

Fatawa SA is an independent, read-only index of fatawa already published by Darul Ifta Ibn Masood. It is not a fatwa service. For your own situation, ask the issuing Darul Ifta directly.
