Wudhu

Question

If a Muslim intentionally gets a tattoo, will their Wudhu be valid?

Answer

Tattooing is impermissible in Islam, whether it be of animate, or inanimate objects. Nabi Salallahu Alaihi Wasallam cursed the person who tattoos, and the one upon whom it is done. Hence, one should totally refrain from tattooing due to the prohibition mentioned in the Hadith. Also, the chemicals used in the process of tattooing are harmful.

Ibn Umar Radiallahu Anhu narrates that Rasulullah Salallahu Alaihi Wasallam is reported to have said, “Allah curses the one who tattoos or gets tattooed.

However, Wudhu made over the tattoo will be valid.
