Sounds of pain in Salaah
Question
If a person is an Imaam and he expresses sounds like, “Ah!” or the like, will it nullify the Salaah?
Answer
If one says ‘Uf’ or “Tuf’ or ‘Ah’ or ‘Ooh’, then his Salaah will be nullified if such sounds were expressed due to pain or difficulty. If one is afflicted with an illness and therefore cannot refrain from such sounds, then according to Imaam Muhammad Rahimahullah, the Salaah will not be nullified. However, such sounds should not be made under normal circumstances, or else the Salaah will be nullified.

ولو بكى في صلاته فإن سال دمعه من غير صوت لا تفسد صلاته وإن ارتفع صوته فحصل به حروف إن كان من ذكر الجنة والنار لم تفسد صلاته وإن كان من وجع أو مصيبة تفسد صلاته وكذا لو قال أف أو تف أو أنّ في صلاته فقال آه أو أوه تفسد صلاته إن كان من وجع أو مصيبة وإن كان به مرض لا يمكنه الامتناع عنه عن محمد رحمه الله تعالى أنه قال لا يفسد صلاته لأن ما لا يمكنه الامتناع عنه يكون عفواً (فتاوي قاضيخان ص66 ج1)
