Wearing Bright Coloured Clothes
Question
Are boys allowed to wear orange, red, yellow, pink, purple clothing? What are the colour restrictions for boys/girls? And what about clothing with the primary colour being impermissible but consists of other colours or inanimate prints on it?
Answer
It is Makrooh for males to wear pure red, yellow or saffron coloured clothing. The remaining colours are fine. However, one should not wear clothing that are the Shi’aar (symbols) of other people. The T-shirt in question has other colours on it, hence it won’t be categorized as pure red, although it will be best for males to refrain from wearing it. Females are permitted to wear all colours.
