Missing Wuqoof At Muzdalifah
Question
During Hajj, on the 10th of Dhul Hijjah, my group leader took us away from Muzdalifah quite early in the night. We then went to pelt the Jamaraat before Fajr Salaah time had started. I am a Hanafi, so will I have to make a sacrifice?
Answer
The Fuqaha have written that the time of Wuqoof in Muzdalifah commences from Subh Saadiq (dawn break) until sunrise.
If a Haji makes Wuqoof even for a moment during this time, then he will be absolved of his obligation. However, you stated in your query that you left Muzdalifah at night and pelted the Jamaraat before Fajr Salaah. This means that the Wuqoof of Muzdalifah, which is Waajib, was omitted, hence a Damm (slaughtering an animal within the precincts of the Haram) will be applicable.

وقت وقوف مزدلفه :
مزدلفہ میں وقوف کا وقت دسویں ذی الحجہ کی صبح صادق طلوع ہونے سے شروع ہوتا ہے اور اسی دن کا آفتاب طلوع ہونے تک ہے۔
اگر کسی شخص نے طلوع صبح صادق سے پہلے یا طلوع آفتاب کے بعد وقوف کیا تو وہ وقوف صحیح نہیں ہو گا (بدائع الصنائع 2/136 البنایہ 5/126)
وقوف کی مقدار واجب یہ ہے کہ مذکورہ وقت کے کسی حصہ میں تھوڑی سی دیر یعنی لحظہ بھر کے لئے وقوف کرنا واجب ہے۔ خواہ راستہ گذرتے ہوئے ہی ایک لحظہ بھر کے لئے ہو۔ اور اس کی مقدار سنت یہ ہے کہ صبح صادق طلوع ہوتے ہی وقوف شروع کیا جائے اور اچھی طرح اجالا ہو جانے تک دراز کیا جائے ۔ ( البنا یہ 5/126)
