Disposal Of Religious Artefacts
Question
Which is the best possible way to ‘dispose’ of (old/torn) Quraan covers, Musallas, small Miswaaks, and stationary that was used for seeking knowledge?
Answer
To revere and honour items that are associated with Deen is an indication of Taqwa in the heart. Allah Ta’ala mentions in the Quraan Majeed:
And whosoever honours the Symbols of Allah, then it is indeed from the piety of the heart
Hence, old or torn Quraan covers should be buried. If the Quraan Sharif is old but can be used, then it may be given in Sadaqah. Old Musallahs may be given in Sadaqah if they are usable, or it may be buried if it is not in good condition. Similarly, Miswaaks and stationary (which was used to seek knowledge of Deen) should also be buried if it cannot be used any further.

سوال: کیا فرماتے ہیں علماء کرام اس مسئلہ کے بارے میں کہ بوسیدہ قرآن مجید اور اس کے غلاف کے بارے میں کیا حکم ہے؟
الجواب: فقہاء کرام نے لکھا ہے کہ بوسیدہ قرآن مجید کو کپڑے میں لپیٹ کر دفن کیا جائے گا اور اگر غلاف دور کر کے دوسرے پاک کپڑے میں دفن کرے تو جائز ہے اور غلاف کو اس کے بعد تصدق کرنے میں کوئی حرج نہیں ہے۔ وهو الموفق (فتاوی فريديہ 9/486)
