Is Tayammum permitted due to shortage of time?
Question
I woke up when the time of the Fajr prayer was almost ended (about five minutes left before the end of prayer time), this time is not enough for making vudu’, but in this time I could make Tayammum. Will be possible in this case to make Tayammum instead of vudu’?
Answer
In your situation, water was available to use. The restriction was only the time factor. A restriction in time does not justify the concession of Tayammum. You must make wudhu and make Qadha of the missed prayer if you were not able to pray it before the time expired. (al-Muheet al-Burhani, Vol: 1, Pg: 142)
