Question

For the past few months, I have been spotting only once, then it stops *completely*. I don’t know when it will return. Sometimes it returns after a few days, sometimes it returns after over 10 days.

My last haidh ended on the 4th February.

22 February – Very light pink discharge and spotting

07 March – one spot of red, i am not sure whether if it was bleeding from elsewhere instead (due to a cut)

14 March – very light pink spot

*hanafi madhab

Please assist. I am not sure whether to read/fast or not.

Last 4 cycles:

18 to 28 September

6 to 15 November

10 to 20 December

25 Jan to 4 Feb

Answer

As salām ʿalaikum wa raḥmatullāhī wa barakātuhu

In the Name of Allāh, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.

Sister in Islām,

We commend you on keeping a clear and detailed record of your habit.

Your last ḥayḍ was from the 25th of January to the 4th of February.

The spotting you had on the 22nd of February, 7th of March, and 14th of March will be considered Istiḥāḍah.

Accordingly, you will have had to fast and perform ṣalāh during those days.

And Allāh Taʿālā knows best.
