Working for SAPS and growing a beard
Question
My husband works for the SAPS. As part of their dress code, male police officers (my husband is a police officer) are not allowed to keep beards (and in fact, may only keep a moustache). My husband is a new Muslim and has started growing his beard recently. Should he abide by their dress code or should we request for grace in terms of the beard rule, citing religious reasons?
Answer
Your husband should inform them that shaving his beard is against his religion.
And Allah Ta'ala (الله تعالى) knows best.
