Question

I have a question about zakaat money. Every year I collect zakaat money from family and friends and distribute it to those that I know are deserving of it. I wanted to know if I can also take from the zakaat money for my own needs. My personal situation is that I believe that I am eligible for zakaat.

Answer

If people give you zakaat to distribute on their behalf to those who are deserving, then you cannot take the money for yourself even though you are eligible.

And Allah Ta'ala (الله تعالى) knows best.
