What is the definition of sunrise?

What is the definition of sunrise/shurooq? When the sun slightly appears on the horizon or when the sun completely is visible on the horizon?
Answer
Sunrise commences from the time the sun begins to rise until the complete ball of the sun becomes visible. Shurooq refers to the time where the sun rises and reaches a point after which it is permissible for one to perform ishraaq salaah. This is generally 15 to 20 minutes after sunrise.
