Question

1. Can a muslim person attend and eat food of other religions (Hindu, Christian, etc) in fuctions like wedding, reception, etc?

2. Is it permissible in Islam for a Muslim to attend and eat food in functions of non-invited parties or strangers?

Answer

We are commanded not to befriend disbelievers. Attending their functions and becoming close to them is really not respecting Islamic values.

And Allah Ta'ala (الله تعالى) knows best.

Ask Mufti Online

Fatawa SA is an independent, read-only index of fatawa already published by Mufti Online — Madrasah Ta'leemuddeen. It is not a fatwa service. For your own situation, ask the issuing Darul Ifta directly.
