Gathering the entire family to make dua

There's a kind of tradition in our family. Before any of our important work or board exams, all our relatives sit together and pray to Allah for our wishes to be fulfilled. Someone said that it's bidah or haram. Is it actually haram?
Answer
To make du`aa is not bid`ah. However, to avoid any complication do the du`aa individually. Don't make it a family gathering.
And Allah Ta'ala (الله تعالى) knows best.
