Sabbath in the Quraan Majeed

Can you explain what was the Sabbath in the light of the Quraan?
Answer
The Jews were commanded to honour the sabbath, and some permissible things were made forbidden for them on this day.
And Allah Ta'ala (الله تعالى) knows best.
