Replacing stock that is past the sell by date
Question
Sometimes store owners ask us to help them out with stock that has not been sold and is sometimes past the sell by date.
1. Is it permissible to give them back the full value of the stock as a credit?
2. Is it permissible to swap the stock directly for a fresh lot?
Answer
It is permissible.
And Allah Ta'ala (الله تعالى) knows best.

Fatawa SA is an independent, read-only index of fatawa already published by Mufti Online — Madrasah Ta'leemuddeen. It is not a fatwa service. For your own situation, ask the issuing Darul Ifta directly.
