Girl getting married without the consent of her parents
Question
If a girl gets married without the consent of her parents, will the nikaah be valid?
Answer
If the boy she marries is of her kuf (social compatibility), then the nikaah will be valid even though the nikaah is performed without the consent of the wali. However, if the boy she marries is not of her kuf (social compatibility), then for the nikaah to be valid, the consent of the wali is a prerequisite. If the wali does not give consent, the nikaah will not be valid.
