Question

Is it permissible to get married and not have kids?

Answer

Having children and being desirous for children is the spirit of the sunnat. Nabi (sallallahu alaihi wasallam) has mentioned:

Marry loving and fertile women, because through you, I will compete with the other nations for superiority in numbers.

Further, Allah Ta`ala has stated that the Ambiyaa (alaihimus salaam) had wives and offspring. Hence, this intention is working against the very spirit of the sunnat.

And Allah Ta'ala (الله تعالى) knows best.
