Question

I teach at a Maktab and before we start the actual lesson, the learners are given 5 to 10 min to go over the sabaq for the day. In this time I would either read 40 durood or do some tilawat of my own. Also, while waiting for all the learners to come, I sometimes perform two rakaats of salaah. Is this khiyaanah (deception) of madrasah time?

Answer

When there is no work that can be done that is related to your employment then it is permissible. It is even better to do something related to your work. For example, to understand your students better, understand what approach to use and teach them, what could make them and their homes better and make them practising muslims. Make notes of it and discuss these points with them.

And Allah Ta'ala (الله تعالى) knows best.

Fatawa SA is an independent, read-only index of fatawa already published by Mufti Online — Madrasah Ta'leemuddeen. It is not a fatwa service. For your own situation, ask the issuing Darul Ifta directly.
