Question

My 18 year old son at times drives me crazy. He always argues and debates. I would like to do my islaah as far as anger is concerned. I have listened and read all the advises and bayaans of the Ulama as far as anger is concerned. But when I am in the situation I forget everything because I am too busy fighting and arguing with him to remember anything. After I have said alot of bad things to him, I regret and feel bad as to how badly I have behaved towards him. How can I reform myself.

Answer

When you see your anger being incited and you notice that you are slightly incited and it may just be the beginning, then immediately move away from there. Don't remain there even for a moment. And when you move away, think carefully about what is going to be the long term and short term consequences of what you want to say and beg Allah Ta`ala's protection. May Allah Ta`ala protect you.

And Allah Ta'ala (الله تعالى) knows best.

Fatawa SA is an independent, read-only index of fatawa already published by Mufti Online — Madrasah Ta'leemuddeen. It is not a fatwa service. For your own situation, ask the issuing Darul Ifta directly.
