Installing CCTV cameras for security purposes
Question
I am the owner of a jewellery shop that is located in a market where there are no more sellers of jewellery and my shop has gold in it. I wanted to know if Shari’ah allows placing a CCTV camera in a shop where there is a lot of risk of heists so by placing a camera I can observe what’s going on in the shop.
Answer
Photography of all kinds is prohibited. Hence, having a cctv camera will not be permissible.
And Allah Ta'ala (الله تعالى) knows best.
