Celebrating birthdays and anniversaries
Question
A husband and wife celebrate birthdays and wedding anniversary and accept gifts from birthday party's and anniversary party's. How can they make taubah?
Answer
As Muslims, we are commanded to firmly hold onto the Islamic culture and refrain from emulating the ways of the kuffaar and adopting their culture. These celebrations are part of the kuffaar culture. If one had participated in such parties, customs, etc, then he/she should sincerely repent to Allah Ta’ala and refrain from this in the future.
And Allah Ta'ala (الله تعالى) knows best.
