Paying for someone's plane ticket with zakaat money
Question
A family from Syria is eligible for zakaat. They wish to visit the birth of their grandson in another country. If someone pays for their plane ticket, can it be considered zakaat?
Answer
If they are eligible to receive zakaat and one paid for their ticket with the intention of giving them zakaat, the zakaat will be discharged.
And Allah Ta'ala (الله تعالى) knows best.
