Discovery medical aid scheme
Question
Discovery have come out with a “shariah” compliant medical aid scheme.
Is this permissible?
Answer
Since this Discovery medical aid scheme is based on the Takaaful insurance model, and the Takaaful insurance model is no different to conventional insurance as the elements of gambling and riba (interest) are found in them, this medical aid scheme is also not permissible.
And Allah Ta'ala (الله تعالى) knows best.
