Question

Sometime ago, we purchased leather shoes in a non-Muslim country. We did not ask in the store what type of leather is used, i.e. if it is pig leather or not.

I thus subsequently called and emailed the manufacturer multiple times, but for some reason they were not forthcoming on the type of leather used. They said they will get back to me but they never did.

What should be done with these shoes which might or might not be pig leather? Can they be given to a non-Muslim?

Answer

If the leather is pig leather, it cannot be given to anyone, whether Muslim or non-Muslim.

And Allah Ta'ala (الله تعالى) knows best.
