Meaning of the name Hamdaan
Question
I wanted to ask regarding the name Hamdaan, was this a Sahaabis name? If not, was it the name of anyone who came after the Sahaabah?
Answer
We do not have knowledge of any Sahaabi having this name. However, keeping this name is permissible, as this name has a good meaning. Hamdaan refers to someone who praises Allah Ta'ala. It is also mentioned that it was the name of a Yemeni tribe.
And Allah Ta'ala (الله تعالى) knows best.
