Ramadhaan & FastingThose who are Exempted from Fasting

Question

Say for instance it is Ramadhaan now and it is Monday today. I intend travelling more than safr distance tomorrow. I will be flying at 8am (after sehri time). Is it permissible for me not to fast? Or is it only permissible if I am already travelling at the time of sehri?

Answer

If at the time when sehri ends and the fast commences, you are not a musaafir (e.g. you are in your hometown), then it is compulsory upon you to keep the fast for that day, even though you intend to travel later on during the day. The concession of not fasting only applies to those who are musaafir at the time when the fast commences.

And Allah Ta'ala (الله تعالى) knows best.
