Why are there two sajdahs in Salaah?
Question
Someone asked me the following question saying that he was put in a situation when asked as to what is the reason for there being two sajdahs in each rak'at of namaaz?
Answer
The Hadith commands us to perform two sajdahs.
And Allah Ta'ala (الله تعالى) knows best.

أخبرني أبو بكر بن عبد الرحمن بن الحارث أنه سمع أبا هريرة يقول كان رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم إذا قام إلى الصلاة يكبر حين يقوم ثم يكبر حين يركع ثم يقول سمع الله لمن حمده حين يرفع صلبه من الركعة ثم يقول وهو قائم ربنا لك الحمد قال عبد الله ولك الحمد ثم يكبر حين يهوي ثم يكبر حين يرفع رأسه ثم يكبر حين يسجد ثم يكبر حين يرفع رأسه ثم يفعل ذلك في الصلاة كلها حتى يقضيها ويكبر حين يقوم من الثنتين بعد الجلوس (صحيح بخاري باب التكبير إذا قام من السجود 1/108-109)
