Question

I am a 22-year-old girl (unmarried). Is it necessary to ask for parents' permission if a relative invites me to their house for dinner or is it ok to just to inform them and go?

Answer

Islam teaches that a girl should consult with her parents before deciding on any important matter. Similarly, the Islamic teaching is that a girl should ask permission from her parents before leaving the home to go anywhere to fulfil a valid need. At the time when leaving the home, she should ensure that she does not leave the home alone, but is accompanied by her mahram.

And Allah Ta'ala (الله تعالى) knows best.
