Charging one's staff members for breaking items
Question
A certain company operates in the following manner:
When staff accidently break items during the course of work, the company deducts the full price of the item from the staffs wages. The broken item is not given to the staff. Is this correct?
Answer
This is not correct. The staff cannot be charged for any item that broke by mistake without their negligence.
And Allah Ta'ala (الله تعالى) knows best.
