Fasting 3 days of Aashuraa
Question
Can you fast days for ashura or is the virtue only 2 days?
If you fast all 3 days for ashura will all three days be rewarded as the fast of ashura?
Answer
The virtue of Aashurah is fasting on the tenth of Muharram. However, Rasulullah (sallallahu alaihi wasallam) has commanded his ummah to fast for two days in order to oppose the jews (i.e. the ninth and tenth, or the tenth and eleventh of Muharram). Nevertheless, if one wishes to fast for all three days, then it is permissible and one will be rewarded.
