Giving zakaat to one's husband
Question
My husband is in alot of debt. He is unemployed and our monthly expenses are being taken care of by my father in law.
I have some jewellery that I pay zakaat on every year. Am I allowed to give my husband my zakaat to pay of his debts ?
Answer
You cannot give him your jewellery as zakaat . However, if you wish to give him your jewellery as a gift in order to help him settle his debts, then it is permissible.
And Allah Ta'ala (الله تعالى) knows best.
