Woman in the state of haidh 'fasting' on the day of Eidul Adha
Question
Is it permissible to keep the 'fast' on the day of Eidul Adha in the state of Haidh?
Answer
It is sunnah for one to refrain from consuming anything on the day of Eidul Adha before the qurbaani animal is slaughtered, and thus the first thing which one consumes should be the meat of the qurbaani animal.
This is in order to show gratitude to Allah Ta'ala for the qurbaani meat which is an invitation from the side of Allah Ta‘ala to His servants.
However, this is not a fast. The hadith has prohibited fasting on the two Eids.
It is also sunnah for a woman in the state of haidh to refrain from eating anything on the day of Eidul Adha until she partakes of the meat of the qurbaani animal.
And Allah Ta'ala (الله تعالى) knows best.
