Two or more people sharing in a nafl qurbaani
Question
Is it permissible for two or more people to pay for one sheep or 1 share of a cow for nafl Qurbani after having done a separate waajib Qurbani? Does the ruling differ between sheep and cattle?
Answer
According to Moulana Ashraf Ali Thaanwi (rahmatullahi alayh) and Mufti Mahmood Hasan Gangohi (rahmatullahi alayh), one nafl qurbaani in a goat or sheep can be carried out by few people collectively.
As far as a big animal is concerned (e.g. cow or camel) , then it is permissible for two or more people to share in the one-seventh share, on condition that each shareholder's total share in the cow is not less than one-seventh (e.g. two people have one and a half share and the remainder four shares are owned by four people).
The qurbaani of all the shareholders will be invalid if any shareholder’s share is less than one-seventh.
And Allah Ta'ala (الله تعالى) knows best.
