Making a promise to Allah Ta'ala
Question
Are all promises to Allah considered as Ahd عهد in fiqh or should we say the word "Ahd عهد" if we want to establish an "ahd" with Allah?
Answer
If a person has made a promise to Allah Ta'ala within his heart, then he should endeavour to fulfil that promise. If he has taken an oath on the name of Allah or a nazar, then it is compulsory for him to fulfil the oath and the nazar (provided it is of a permissible nature).
And Allah Ta'ala (الله تعالى) knows best.
